Seit dem 21. Dezember 1992 besteht ein Abkommen zwischen der Schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft und der Republik Estland über die Förderung und den gegenseitigen Schutz von Investitionen. Der Warenaustausch mit der Schweiz hat seit Inkrafttreten des Freihandelsabkommens am 1. April 1993 sprunghaft zugenommen.
Seit dem 29. März 2004 ist Estland Mitglied der NATO.
Am 1. Mai 2004 wurde Estland im Zuge der sog. Osterweiterung in die Europäische Union (EU) aufgenommen.

This day is marked by importand official ceremonies.
